This is the basic curriculum of CMAS and will be overseen by qualified instructors. Successfull student will be awarded certifications and ranking based on candidate performance and dedication.


Time Frame: 0 - 3 months

  1. 4 basic strikes and 8 basic strikes

Time Frame: 3 - 6 months
  1. Defensive Posture
  2. Warm up and Stretching using defensive post
  3. Falling using defensive posture
  4. Basic strikes (palm, knee, elbow)
  5. How to use the basic strikes
  6. Ground Kicks (front, side, ax kick)
  7. Defense against grab and bear hug
  8. Defense on the ground
  9. Defense against weapons (blade, blunt, projectile)
  10. Defense against multiple opponents

Legalities of self defense

Incorporated in this part of the curriculum is the defense in stick vs. stick, stick vs empty hands and knife vs empty hands.These defences are taken from the different teachers we have learned from. Aside from this defense we integrated basic striking and kicking moves from muay thai and the take downs from shuai chiao and judo.


Time Frame: 6 months - up

(Note: in the specialization  one can choose from different systems of arnis, the Original Filipino Tapado Long Stick Fighting, Muay Thai, Judo, Aikido, San Shou and Tai Chi)

On page 6 of the said newspaper the featured article. The picture on the right side is Grandmaster Cacoy Canete weilds a stick that can make a deadly strike.



The picture on the right side is Grandmaster Diony Canete ( brother of Cacoy) and on the left picture are Cinematographer Raul Antipuesto with camera and director Kerwin Go during the shooting of Eskrimadors.

The Brgy. Alicante Council of E.B. Magalona under the leadership of Hon. Punong Brgy. Gelita S. Parcon in cooperation with the Talisay City-based Bassdumas Combat Sports of Founder/Chief Instructor Ian B. Negrido held the graduation rites for 12 Brgy. Public Safety Officers (BPSO/brgy. tanod) who completed the Advanced Training in Survival: Defensive Tactics Agaisnt Bladed and Impact weapons and Handcuffing Procedures in accosting and Arresting last July 12, 2009 at the Public Plaza, Brgy. Alicante, Municipality of E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

Tapado Practice with GM Lobrido

Last sunday, August 9, 2009 The CMAS team with senior instructor Narciso "hansy" Alojado and Instructor Joeffrey L. Deriada held a paractice session at GM Bebing Lobrido's Home at Irigasyon, Taloc, Bago City. The group who usually meet at the DMA conservatory during Tuesdays, Thursdays and sundays, made a different turn having it held in the presence of the Grand Master.

Open Forum with Master Joe Tan

Master Joe Tan, a Tapado Master based in the U.S.A and sole authorized representative of Modified Tapado in the State of California, visited CMAS last August 4, 2009 at DMA for an open forum. Together With GM Bebing Lobrido, he imparted upon the group the strength of the art of Tapado through his experiences. Master Joe, did not hesitate to answer some questions from the group as he presented demos with the help of our instructors as well as GM Bebing Lobrido, who graced the group with his presence as the 1st generation inheritor of the art.

The Forum was attended by qualified Instructors of CMAS, as well as junior practicioners of the group, who were just recently introduced to Tapado.
